Claire has been let down over and over again and we are her last chance.

She was being given away on Facebook in a rural town in the deep south of the US when someone decided to take her in. She was old with a large belly and a huge mass on her abdomen, so her owners seemed to have thought that giving her away instead of taking her to the vet was the easiest thing to do.

She is old - likely 10 years old. She has bad teeth and has been suffering for years from poor treatment. Her rotten teeth alone cause daily unbearable pain making it hard for her to eat. The mass on her belly makes it impossible for her to get around adequately - and she's a small girl.

And then it gets worse - once she was taken in via Facebook, the person who took her in ended up in the hospital for two weeks and no one checked on Claire. Likely, no one knew about her. Once again, she was faced with horrible mistreatment as she was now locked in a home with barely enough food and water to survive. And we have no idea how she did.

When someone finally learned about her existence, they went to check on her only to find that she had GIVEN BIRTH! She had 2 pups with her still alive - several more had died. She was giving every ounce of her being to keep the remaining 2 pups alive.

A rescuer was notified and took her in immediately and now Homeward Trails is being asked to take her in. She will need emergency ongoing vetting, a life flight to get her here and surgery for her teeth and her abdominal mass.

She will need every possible test, procedure, vaccine and ongoing care to get her out of the woods as her small body is fighting so hard to stay alive for her pups.

This is VERY EXPENSIVE but we just feel that this little girl and her two tiny puppies deserve a chance at a pain-free life. PLEASE HELP.
