Food Lifeline’s mission is to feed people experiencing hunger today while working to end hunger for tomorrow.
Food Justice - the belief that everyone has a human right to equitable access the nutritious and culturally relevant food that enables them to thrive - is a foundation of their mission.
Food Lifeline provides nutritious food to hundreds of thousands of people facing hunger in Western Washington every year. The organization sources millions of pounds of donated food, including fresh produce, from farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, grocers, restaurants, and retail locations. Volunteers inspect and repack food donations which are then distributed through Food Lifeline programs and in partnership with over 350 food banks, shelters, and meal programs that serve people throughout Western Washington. This efficient system allows them to distribute hundreds of thousands of meals every day to people across a 16-county service area who don’t always have enough to eat.
